Gallop held a patent seminar for businesses and lawyers

Gallop, Johnson & Neuman, L.C., will host an informative, free seminar entitled “Improving Your Game: Understanding & Leveraging the Patent System to Your Company’s Advantage” on Wednesday, November 18, 2009.

Business executives, attorneys, researchers and developers, engineers and entrepreneurs are invited to attend the morning-long seminar, which is designed to benefit individuals charged with creating, leveraging or understanding their company’s intellectual property, whether their duties are in technical development, intellectual property marketing or addressing legal issues involving patents.

The event opens with networking at 8 a.m., followed by breakfast and the seminar starting at 8:30 a.m. and continuing until noon, at Gallop, Johnson & Neuman law offices at 101 South Hanley Road, Suite 1700, Clayton, Missouri, 63105.

Don V. Kelly, a registered patent attorney and partner at Gallop, Johnson & Neuman who focuses his practice in areas of intellectual property and business litigation, will conduct the seminar. Mr. Kelly’s intellectual property practice involves assisting clients with patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret and technology matters and transactions. His litigation practice includes representing and assisting clients in trials and appellate matters. His experience at trial and appellate levels includes successful first-chair handling of state and federal trials and multi-million dollar business lawsuits involving trade secrets, non-compete agreements and franchise and business disputes. Mr. Kelly earned a J.D. from Washington University School of Law and a B.S. in physics fromDuke University.

The 12-topic seminar will discuss “An Overview of the U.S. Patent System,” “Best Practices for Documenting and Protecting Inventions,” “Searching Patent Databases With Confidence,” “The Patent Application Process,” “Improving Patent Strategy & Maximizing Your Return of Investment,” “Trends, Current Issues & Recent Developments” and other areas, and will include a question and answer session.
